THE HERB AMSTER CENTER
was founded to honor the legacy of Herb Amster, a well-respected, local entrepreneur and innovative leader in the business and nonprofit community, as well as a generous mentor and an inspiration to many.
The Center embodies and actualizes advice Herb Amster often gave Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County to bring sustainability to the agency through long-term financial stability.
“Do good things, but remember the bottom line so you can do more good things.”
Building upon the breadth and depth of knowledge and experience within JFS, The Amster Center affords this venerable agency the opportunity to offer clinical, behavioral, transportation, interpretation, training and caregiving expertise to people and organizations that can pay for it — in order to provide these services to those in the community who cannot.
“We are known for great service. And we are working with the Amster Center to develop training that will more clearly lay out for our staff members, culturally competent, great service for the community.”
—Robbie Griswold, Community Partnerships Coordinator and Diversity

“Having this basic information presented at work is helpful for those suffering in silence, while also opening up others to give support .”
